When is the Change Happening?
The company behind ZYN pouches, Philip Morris International (PMI), announced that it will roll out the higher-quantity pouches throughout the fourth quarter of 2026 (October 1 to December 31, 2026).
However, this doesn’t mean that every ZYN for sale will suddenly have 20 pouches overnight. ZYN factories have already produced many 3mg and 6mg cans that contain 15 pouches, and these products will continue in circulation until they are all sold.
In some cases, retailers could simultaneously be selling some 3mg or 6mg ZYNs with 15 pouches and others with 20 pouches.
Which ZYNs Will Have 20 Pouches?
All 3mg and 6mg ZYNs will now have 20 pouches. This applies to all flavors with these strength levels — from the old guard like ZYN Wintergreen to newer additions like ZYN Dragonberry to the unflavored ZYN Smooth.
So, what about the pouches that don’t have these strength levels?
PMI launched ZYN Ultra in the middle of 2026, with a focus on more of almost everything. More moisture, more strength, and more pouches in a can. But since ZYN Ultra products have contained 20 pouches per can since their launch, they are not affected by the change.
Is Anything Else Changing?
2026 has been a year of change for ZYN, with plenty of new product launches. As well as ZYN Ultra, the brand released new strength levels of 1.5mg and 8mg in late 2026 (note that these are not currently available from all retailers). The 1.5mg ZYNs will join the conversion to 20 pouches, while the 8mg ZYNs will remain with 15 pouches.
